“With a world in turmoil around us, today the concerns of a welcoming home seem more important than ever, where beauty and the timeless activities of domestic life should function smoothly, caress us, and be a sanctuary for family. Lovingly chosen objects and furnishings should welcome a family with both the familiar and the new.”
“Rooms that appear beautiful but are not comfortable or functional don’t beckon you to linger and enjoy. Well-designed rooms don’t just look good, they engulf you both physically and emotionally, that speak to and cradle a family in their day-to-day life.”
“ ‘A client once told me : ‘I am excited every time I open the door and enter, as excited as I was the first time I saw the house finished.’ It’s a lot more than buying furniture. A home should reflect hope, inspiration, and love, that feed the human spirit. It should be a perfect fit, a perfect reflection of those who inhabit it.’ ”
Having spent 24 years on Nantucket Island running an art gallery and design studio, Deborah relocated her design and art consultation business to sunny Vero Beach, where she continues her design work and art consultation.
Deborah Timmermann, ASID, is principal designer for the firm Island House Vero Beach. Known for creating timeless, aesthetically pleasing interiors that welcome you every time you come home, she draws inspiration from nature and the world. Creating a positive impact on the people who live there; a design that expresses the client’s vision and needs for all parts of their life.
An art and design major in college, she apprenticed at Jessup-New York in Manhattan, part of the Palm Beach firm Jessup, Inc. The design studio and love of art weathered various corporate moves, and in 1995, settled in Nantucket, where she ran her design studio and art gallery for twenty four years.
On Nantucket, the design business flowed smoothly into the addition of an art gallery, where she represented twenty-six artists of local and national talent. Currently, along with design work and art consultation, she has written columns for the Arts Section of the weekly paper 32963.
With her knowledge of the Vero arts community, with the many talented and diverse artists, she guides her clients to paintings and other art work that enhance their home, visually and emotionally.
Timmermann enjoys all styles of design, but stresses good design in whatever chosen genre. Enjoying contemporary, traditional, minimalist, country, or an eclectic combination of several styles.
Often combining furniture and accessories clients already have, and blending them with newly acquired pieces as needed, the combination gives the home a sense of evolution, that represents the client’s taste and lifestyle.
Deborah works with clients in all phases of the design process. Working closely with her clients, she guides them to the home of their dreams.
These timeless interiors create a positive impact on the people who live there, design that expresses the client’s vision and needs for all aspects of their life.
